The spherical floor plan is probably the most efficient structural design solution, while also being economic it offers a credible design solution to minimise the visual impact of the tall building on the skyline, and visual interest as the elevation changes as the viewer moves, these factors combined with expressing only every second floor on the elevation produced a design the local authority submitted for their local design awards.
The original design and built form differ due to value engineering accepted by the Client as a result of delivering the building via a design and build contract.
