New mixed use development of 150 family houses, 500 apartments a Tesco superstore and community facilities on the site of the old Battle Hospital. The site on the outskirts of Reading Town Centre contained several buildings of architectural design merit which were retained, it also offered opportunities to provide new vehicular and pedestrian routes through the site to improve connectivity within the local area, and open up and allow the opportunity of regeneration to lower value areas adjacent to the site boundary.
These factors were used as the basis for the overall site masterplan and the design of the buildings and detailed plan layouts of individual character areas, design elements essential in the successful development of the site.
